Faith

When asked what faith is, the bible scholars start chanting Hebrews 11:1. We all know what faith is or at least in theory we do. Faith is the evidence of things not seen but existing or something like that. (I know I can check the exact verse and quote it but I won't :p)

How does this translate into our lives? We know we should pray with faith. We know we should live in faith. We know we should have faith even in seemingly impossible situations but how do we apply faith?

Faith, I believe, is going to the end of your border and taking one more step. Normally, you know that the limit is at point X but you need to get to point Y. Why don’t you take another step after point X? That brings you closer than ever to Y and then let God lead you to your desired location. If you need let’s say 10000 naira for a project and you have only 5000 naira and the pledge you made in church is 4000 naira but it’s not due for another two weeks, faith is redeeming your pledge and waiting patiently for God’s direction
(waiting for the slap X_X                 *sigh* Okay I’m still alive :D).
Under normal circumstances, logically that is, you should keep the 5000 naira and look for the balance somewhere but as God’s children, we live by faith. (Yeah I’m insane like that sometimes!)

When we were younger, we all learnt the story of David and Goliath . For those who don't know it and went to Sunday School :O . Here's a brief summary -
Little boy David faced a mighty giant Goliath with just five stones and a sling against Goliath's spear and sword and all that! David triumphed over Goliath in the name of the Lord by swinging his sling and shooting one stone which smacked the giant in the middle of his head and sent him to the ground. The END!

If you analyze it well, you'll realize that on a normal day, when you throw a stone at someone, it should make them fall back if it hits them in the head. Right? Well, Goliath fell face down in the dirt!!!

(1Sa 17:49) ‘Reaching into his shepherd’s bag and taking out a stone, he hurled it with his sling and hit the Philistine in the forehead. The stone sank in, and Goliath stumbled and fell face down on the ground.’

To me, that translates as God pushed Goliath down because David had faith enough to throw the stone. I’ve realized that sometimes we feel like what we have is too small to solve a problem and so we render it insignificant - David used the stone to kill Goliath but the stone was only a seed of faith. He started with the stone and then God finished the work. God caused a reaction to His action – If you don’t act, don’t expect a reaction!

When what you have is not enough to be called a harvest, then it's a seed. Sow it and see what the God of multiplication would do for you. Don't you think it's better to be hungry now and reap a harvest that would sustain you and your family later than to eat your seed which might not even satisfy one person not to talk of quenching the hunger?

Always remember that when what you have is not sufficient to satisfy your need, it is a seed. Sow it and wait patiently for your fruit for it is foolish to eat the seed now and be hungry later than to wait patiently for a short period in hunger and then be fulfilled in the end!

Faith is taking a step without seeing the whole staircase or reaching your boundaries and taking one more step. They may say it doesn't make sense but that's why it makes miracles.

God’s Girl.
