Making an impact

Hello again people! As this post continues from In OUR image, you can click here to quickly go through that. In case you don't want to right now, feel free to continue reading.

Today's focus is making an impact. As I like to break things down to the basics, we'll start from definitions. Impact is defined as a marked effect or influence! Influence is the capacity to have an effect on the character or behaviour of someone or something. That said, we need to re-evaluate ourselves and our environments and ask three questions:
1) Are we having any effect at all on the lives of people and the environment around us?
2) What kind of effect are we having where we are placed?
3) How much of an effect are we exerting on our environment?

Truth be told, most of us are very comfortable 'just not causing trouble' but we need to actually get up and do something because we need to have an effect on characters. We need to do more!!! Before we go into what we can do to make an impact, we need to figure out why we might not be having an effect on the world where we live.

·         Complacency:
Like I said earlier, some of us are too comfortable where we are. Yes we may have tried and gotten to a certain level but now we don't want the stress of having to do extra. We don't want to get out of our comfort zones AT ALL! In this generation, we believe its time consuming enough to be involved in a ministry without adding the extra stress of having to go and talk to people or drawing that extra attention. Don't be like Esau and be fine with a bowl of soup when you've been called to manifest as the first born son! Check out Proverbs 1:32.

·         Ignorance:
Get information! Don't just start up something. You need to understand your environment and of course with the help of the Holy Spirit, you'll know what to do. You won't want to perish for lack of knowledge like the Pharaoh in Joseph's days (Exodus 1:8). It seemed like He was making an impact but alas see where it led him.

·         Living in a closure:
Well apart from being comfortable in our comfort zones, some of us don't even want to get out and do anything at all. That's the closure mentality. We think we've shielded ourselves from the world because we refuse to come out of the 'womb' but remember it is not healthy for a baby to spend past 9 months in there. The environment is not so conducive anymore so we need to move. Instead of being forced out because you're overdue, make an effort to show yourself now or you might never even get the chance to leave the womb alive. You can't manifest fully unless you're out of that closure!!!

I know that's a head full but as we're thinking about that, quickly add this thought. I can make an impact by:
Ø  Being willing to pay a price: Whatever yours is individually
Ø  Doing what is demanded: Though it may not always be convenient.
Ø  Disciplining myself: It's a skill everyone needs in all aspects of life.
I hope you've learnt something in this short burst of information. Feel free to read again and take down notes this time. Any questions, comments, thoughts, opinions? There's a box down there, let us know you were here and what you think.

In OUR image

Guess what?

You are a god!
Yeah I know you know that but do you understand the gravity of that statement?
You know how people believe in the powers of wood, clay and iron once they are carved into strange structures? Well, your clay structure has a lot of power too.

What's the difference between your structure and theirs?
 God poured Himself in YOU!

Everything God wanted and desired to do, man could do because God poured Himself through His breath in him. Note that God created you 'IN HIS IMAGE'. He created you to be able to do what He can do!

''And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth''

Gen 1:26

The first thing to note here is - ''Let us ...''. You are in the image of the Father, Son and Spirit. Hold up! This is a little technical so please pay close attention.

The Father:
God
is known for His authority over ALL things. His word is powerful. Remember He holds His word in higher esteem than His name. In the same way, you have authority over ALL things. As you speak, remember your tongue has that kind of power! What you say should happen, can happen so be careful how you wield your power.

The Son:
Jesus is known for His miracle working power - You have that power too! You have that power too. You can heal in the name of Jesus, you can do wonders in the name of Jesus, you can change situations in the name of Jesus. We just don't exercise that power ourselves. We believe in the power in our pastors and deliverance ministers but we don't believe in the Jesus in us. Abi is it a different Jesus in you?

The Spirit:
The Holy Spirit is a comforter and He brings peace and rest and joy  to wherever He dwells. Wherever you are, you should be a peace maker and let people look forward to your presence. When you're not there, people should miss you because you bring a certain calm and there's just something about you not that they look forward to your absence for that peace to be restored. That's the Holy Spirit kind of impact.

Now you know, that's just a tip off the iceberg - a little taste of your reflection. You know where you can get the full picture? Well, every product has a manual with directions on how to use it to its maximum capacity. You have one too. It's the bible!

God loves fellowship and He created man to be part of the fellowship. He made man in His image to subdue the earth. To subdue something means to bring it under control! Therefore God created YOU to bring this earth under control.

He created man to MAKE AN IMPACT!

Man was designed to BRING IMPACT to the earth.

The existence of man from creation was to MAKE A LONG-LASTING IMPACT!

So  as I bring this post to a close, I want us to remember to regularly take a look in the mirror and say:
''Thank you Lord for making me so wonderfully complex. Your workmanship is marvellous - how well I know it.''
                                           Psalm 139:14

In another post, we'll talk about reasons why we are not making as much impact as we should and things to do in making impact.

Until then,

Shalom Saints.

Believing VS Be living

Hi again everyone. It's awesome that you popped in here today. Life is full of contrast - black and white, hot and cold, here and there; and so many others but I've come to realize that there usually are a lot of grey areas in between.

Nevertheless, we'll be talking about a few contrasts that we really don't spend time considering. Today in the ring we have,

Believing is to feel sure of the truth of something while to be living is to spend one's life in a particular way. A lot of Christians today have gotten the 'believing' part down. We know that Jesus is the son of God and that He died for us. We know that He can do miracles and we've seen Him work to a certain degree in our lives - the fact that you're alive and reading this or hearing this is enough of a miracle. We hear His word and believe most of it - the straight forward part. Some of us even dare to believe the not so straight forward and seemingly completely outrageous parts.
Now the question is 'ARE WE LIVING IT'?

It is one thing to believe and another to be living the word. You can know what the word says and believe it's principles would work. You might even preach it to other people but as long as you don't live its principles, don't expect the results. God is a God of principle even though we know that there's grace. You see the thing about grace is that there's grace to pick you up when you fall but that grace is also available to keep you from falling in the first place.

Don't get me wrong - I'm not saying you should be perfect and sinless because you really can't live a righteous life on your own. All I'm saying is test your faith! You know it's possible to get to the 'walking on water if God's tells you to' kind of faith.

Another way to be living the word is to make sure our lives are an evangelism tool to those around us. What is it in you that makes you different? What is it about you that draws people to want to know that Jesus. It's in your speech, it's in your silence. It's in your action, it's in your inaction

So Foresight Family, let's work towards getting to that point where our faith is without borders, let's be living bibles for others to see. May God help us all!

Don't forget there's youth fellowship tomorrow 13th August 2015 by 6pm. See you there!!!
