Hi guys! So I'm not here to preach about how to pray or what an effective prayer time should entail. I just have one simple question:
What is effective prayer for you?
Is it the Lords prayer as you end your day?
Or the Angelus at midday?
Or is it the 'Bless this food oh Lord for Christ's sake' before meals?
Or the pastor led sessions during vigils?
You know what? Effective prayer is effective communication with God and from my elementary knowledge I know communication has taken place only if there is a feedback!!!
Now I'm sure you're wondering, am I to wait for God to talk back to me? And I'm saying, why not? But that's beside the point! The point of this post is that we need to forget routine and discard protocol - now hol' up! Heaven loves order so I'm not saying disrespect God or anything... But talk to God.
Tell him that you are tired and need a break from work.
Tell him that that sister in the choir has caught your eye and you don't know what to do.
Tell him that you have responsibilities that are overwhelming and you need help.
Tell him you're afraid of the dark and you need help.
Tell him you don't know what to wear to work today.
Tell him you want to lose weight and you're tired of starting and failing.
Talk to him like you'll talk to me. Or to your spouse. Or to a sibling. Or to a parent.
Sit down and tap the space next to you and say 'Okay God it's you and me tonight'.
And guess what, it's crazy but it works. Because He hears and He listens. You need to understand that He's real too.
The reason a lot of us struggle with communication with God really is because we have a communication problem - Period.
Lol means 'I'm fine', 'Very funny', 'Whatever', 'I don't know what to say' and the list goes on and on...
This is mostly because we can't talk to our faces anymore - just through our devices. We need to UNPLUG!!!
Don't miss this year's retreat! October 2nd - 3rd for just N2000. Come prepared to meet with God and mingle with people. Learn to have face to face conversations again and build communication lines... Who knows you just might meet the one!
See you there,
God's Girl.
