Being Delilah

Now I know most of you expect a piece about ‘how not to be a Delilah’ or ‘casting out the spirit of Delilah’, but this one’s slightly different. It’s more about embracing your Delilah and no there’s no other Delilah in the bible (that I know of) besides Samson’s Delilah.

Wait! Before you crucify me, hear me out J

Imagine your people have been tormented and ridiculed for years and finally you have the chance to save them. Imagine you hold the key to the salvation of your people, would you ignore that? Esther didn’t and we all celebrate her for that because if she didn’t rise up, God would have raised another deliverer from somewhere. So why do we see Delilah’s case as different? One reason – She was on the other side! She still had a role to play in delivering her people and she ultimately ‘succeeded’ but her major flaw was that she was playing for the other side.

The first lesson we should learn from Delilah’s story is that:
‘Doing the right thing matters ONLY if you’re doing it for the right team’.

In other words, if it’s not the right thing for Team Jesus, then it doesn’t really matter. Remember, without Jesus, you’re nothing. You may be righteous and do good works but you still need Him to enter heaven.

Secondly, we were all created for a purpose. Delilah’s purpose at that time was to deliver her people from Samson and she didn’t get distracted. Even in her marriage and despite previous failures, she kept her eyes on her goal and ultimately delivered on her end. I know that a woman’s primary ministry is her home (once she gets married and not during boyfriend/girlfriend stage) but that’s why God is important in choosing a life partner. Eventually one just realities that your goals somehow work out and you are still positioned to fulfill God’s purpose for your life with the right person.

This is already too long so I’ll end with one more thing. Guys please close your ears –
She had a certain kind of power over her man

Yup! Though Samson had a weakness for women, Delilah knew just where to rub his head and just the right voice to use with him to get him to tell his secret. She did it over and over again and despite the fact that she trapped him every time, he still ultimately told her the truth. Ladies, you should preside over your house spiritually but you still need to know what makes your man tick. He should be comfortable around you enough to trust you with his secrets and seek your advice. You should keep him coming back to YOU. I’ll stop here before they ask me who is teaching me all these things!!!

One more thing – guys you can listen now :D Don’t worry about your woman having power over you, it doesn’t make you weak and it doesn’t mean she’ll control you. A godly woman is worth beyond rubies.

Have a great week ahead,

God’s Girl.
