Change or No Change

Happy boxing day! So I’ll take about 2 seconds and remind us about the fact that we are in a Buhari ‘Change’ era! That being said, we can’t afford to have change from 2016. (See what I did there?  *wink* *covers face*). So we need to pray every day for the next few days to possess our 2016 possessions. We don’t want change from 2016. We need to exhaust the year and claim everything God has in store for us. Therefore in the spirit of emptying myself out this 2016, I need to drop the concluding part of Taiye’s story. In case you haven’t read the first part, just click here.

Hello again guys. I was telling you about myself before and the last time I stopped with my brother leaving and me taking another wife. Long story short, (because it’s the holidays and I know you don’t have time to read a very long post), business boomed and I had kids. I became somewhat popular if I do say so myself. Years later, some people came to see me and they looked like they had travelled quite a distance. Upon speaking with them, I realised that Kenny had sent them – He was coming back home!!! I was so excited, I couldn’t just sit and wait for him after sending his men back so I decided to meet him on the way. I took about 400 of my staff from farm hands to escorts so I could welcome him in grand style. My long lost brother was coming home!
While on the way, we encountered another group of people, this time with livestock. Thinking they were lost or trespassing, I asked who they were and where they were headed. One of them said they were coming to me from Kenny and that the goats, cows, donkeys and all were a gift. We came across another group that repeated the same and yet another and it made me more anxious to see him.
Finally I saw him from far and ran to meet him and hugged him! I didn’t even realise when tears started running down both our faces! Two grown men weeping!! And yes he had grown – had four women with him and about 11 kids or so. This was the point where I said in my head ‘Mama we made it! Your boys did you proud!!!’ I told him I was rich as well and didn’t need all the gifts he sent me but he explained that it was to seek my favour. I was shocked but I understood. I just didn’t think Kenny would still hold what happened against me – I wasn’t angry anymore. I mean, it had been years!!! He was very adamant about it though so I took the livestock gift he gave me just so we won’t get into an argument. Anyway, Kenny insisted I left so he could travel at the pace of the kids and not slow me down. As much as I was disappointed I didn’t want to overdo it so I agreed and offered to leave some of my guys with him. He strongly refused so I carried my people and left.
It took a while before he got home. I thought it was a pretty slow journey but I remembered that one of the women was pregnant and apparently she died during child birth before he got back home. Daddy died after he was back and we buried him and settled there together. It was an awesome experience having my brother again but eventually I decided to pack up my stuff and move because as much as our acquisitions were a blessing, they were a potential source of conflict as well. The land was not enough for all of us to stay and utilise so I did what a big brother would do. I took responsibility, packed up my family and my stuff and left – but this time in good terms.
I hope my story has taught you a few things: I’ll just highlight two I want you to take note of:
1)      Your background doesn’t need to determine your destination.
2)      Hard work pays!

I found this quote on my laptop and I can’t remember where I got it from. I think its Joel Osteen though - sounds like something he would say.

‘If youre gonna see Gods best youre gonna stay on the offensive and speak victory. Its not enough not to say negative words, you have to declare in faith’.

This is me saying Compliments of the Season again, you guys are simply amazing!

God’s Girl.
