Three-In-One (Episode 5)

Characteristics of A Spirit Filled Life:-

Do we sing because we are happy or we are happy because we sing? Don’t expect me to answer that because I don’t know either.

A couple of months back, I visited one of my big Sis in her country house in Abuja and she put up a song for my assessment. This song has always been a joyous melody in her heart. She does not just sing it because she has a good voice but she sings it because of how it makes her feel (memories of triumph). The Holy Spirit gave her that song and it has always been a song that welled-up enormous joy in her heart. When you find yourself singing in Psalms with unexplainable joy, know that He (God) is in control. Now, this could also come not only as a song of victory, but of faith and encouragement. Just let it flow…and you'll experience wonders. The later part of Romans 14:17 says; THE KINGDOM OF GOD IS OF JOY IN THE HOLY GHOST! One characteristic of the Spirit-filled-life is that you will have a song in your heart.

THANKSGIVING is another Characteristic if a Spirit-filled life. If you are keeping filled of the Spirit, you are full of Thanksgiving. Heb. 13:15 tells us how God wants to hear you give thanks/praises. Some people worry more than they give thanks. I have a sweet friend who used to be very anxious and ‘worri-ous’ (if you would permit me to use the last word). At a time, I felt like she was beginning to drawn me with her state of mind because I was really concerned. But today, she is full of thanksgiving. Now she has learnt that all the time she spent WORRYING about her troubles was all a waste.

In God’s calendar, there is an appointed time (expiration date) for resolution of every of our troubles. On the day we were born, we worried about breast milk (I can picture most of your faces how you cried like it was not there…lol), then we worried to get into high school and college, then we worried to graduate and then get a job, then we worried to get settled and married, then children, then school fees, then security, then retirement…etc. My question is; when do we get to really enjoy life itself? Because as it seems, so long as the Sun continues to shine, there will always be troubles to worry about.

Well, if I can’t worry, what am I going to do? You may ask…Phil 4:6 (Amplified version) says it all.

The third characteristic is LISTENING TO ONE ANOTHER – in other words; ‘Submitting’ to one another. We will talk about this in the next episode:-).

Oje.
