The DEBATE: Do Men and Women have "Equal Rights" OR "Equal Opportunities"?

My Good Friends,
Are you ready for a squabble?
I refuse to agree with the notion that men and women should have equal rights. But I do agree that men and women should have equal opportunities. Simply put, What a man can do, a woman can do also, but what a man should do, a woman shouldn’t do!
Do you agree with me or are vigorously shaking your head in disagreement?! Let us hear your opinion! Post a comment and let's get this debate going!

Frank,

I quite agree with you on this. This is because most times we tend to forget those things or issues which basically differentiate the man from the woman. We could have equal opportunities not equal rights. Whoever does not agree with this, should go and ask Apostle Paul why he said the man is the head of the woman. Better still they should go and ask Mama sarah why she called Abraham Lord. Apart from the christian Faith I would be on a vantage position if I could butrees my point on the basis of morality, relationship/communication management, our background(as in we are africans), etc.

While agree to a certain degree on what both Frank and Aizik have said about this issue, I should point out that some men often use this as excuse for doing what they ought not to to.(I hope I have confused you guys even more). I understand that it's not easy being a man, and I firmly agree that a man must always be the head of his home. Anything else to me is a corruption of what God intended. Just as the Church cannot be the head of Christ, a woman cannot be the head of a man!! Shikena!!!

With that being said, I have noticed that a lot of men use this notion of "certain opportunities are open to men alone", to oppress women. And they ALWAYS justify their actions on the fact that a man should be the head in everything, even to the detriment of every other thing. They form the "big boys" clubs, and do everything to kick women out, making women inferior to men.

On the question of whether men and women have equal rights, all you need to do is look around you, and you will see the answer.
