I “heard” that in London (I’ve not been there before o! it’s a matter of ‘them-say’) that there is this instrument or tool that you can stick to your wind-shield (like a rear mirror), you just type in the address of where you are going and then start driving. The instrument will begin to tell you directions (turn by turn) as you go until you reach your destination. I think these Oyinbo people call it Navigator stuff or GPS (Global Positioning System). The kind of stuff my mum would see and exclaim; ‘Na wa for Tekinology’…lol. But come to think of it, can that thing work in Nigeria where street networks are worse than spider web? You will just hear the navigator instrument blinking/screaming “One road at a time please! I’m lost! I’m lost!!”…lwkm! (Just kidding.. Even the new Nokia phones can help you navigate your way around Lagos).
But really, what could sell here in Nigeria is a navigation system that can help us detect and maneuver/meander thru potholes/bad roads… seriously! If I can design a GPS (Global Pothole Sensor) and sell the system/idea to Toyota (West African division/region), I’ll live large!
“His Leading Is The High Way To Your Blessings…” Those were the words of Bishop Oyedepo (in an anointing service we attended during our October Retreat at Canaan Land). What God is saying to us today is that, if we really want to locate the greener pastures and lie down on it (like the Lord’s prayer says), we have to be able to hear Him. If we accept that He is the Good Shepherd and that we are His sheep, then we must KNOW His voice and HEAR Him when He speaks to us. You are in God’s plan.
Now the big question is; “How do I know when the Holy Spirit is talking to me?”
The first and most important thing is to receive the Holy Spirit into your heart. When this happens, the Holy Spirit will mingle with your spirit (1Corin 6:17). Imagine the phone in your hand, displaying “Welcome to Jesus” instead of ‘Nokia’ or ‘Black-Berry’ when you put it on. You will feel Him every time you use the phone. Same way, you will hear His voice talking to you from your Spirit (Rom 8:16). You will have an inner witness in your spirit (that gives you a kind of feeling) that He is the one talking to you. That’s how you begin to know His voice.
Another way you know is that; whatever He tells you is always consistent with the Word of God (John 16:13). His voice and the Scriptures are one! This also means that you need to study the Word of God for yourself otherwise you will not even know the degree if consistency of what you hear.
In the next episode, we shall find out how the Soul is different from the Spirit.
Enjoy!
