Let us learn to WAIT...

Selah…

Therefore thus says the Lord GOD:

      “ Behold, I lay in Zion a stone for a foundation,
      A tried stone, a precious cornerstone, a sure foundation;
      Whoever believes will not act hastily. (Is. 28:16)

We all need to hear from God at different points in our lives and that desire to hear His counsel means that we must continually bring a matter before Him in prayer. Isaiah 28:16 says, "He who believes will not act hastily". God has his own set time. Do not try to move faster than the Lord. He knows exactly when to give you a clear answer, so trust Him to do so. As you wait upon the Lord, search your heart to determine whether your concern is about God or only about things that you want from God.

Oftentimes, God makes us wait to test our hearts and prepare us spiritually for his answer. I reckon that waiting upon the Lord does not mean that we must be passive. It requires us to remain active: we should consider debate, investigate, listen, evaluate and study the Scriptures because this is part of waiting upon the Lord. The Spirit of God is never in a hurry, whereas Satan always wants to hurry us into action. The Spirit of God gives us time to think, to reflect, to be sure. The devil wants us to act hastily and impulsively, because then we easily make mistakes.

God never hurries us to make a decision and what He says to us to do is always justifiable by the scriptures. The leading of the Holy Spirit always corresponds with the Word and the character of God, and always brings hope and life. When the devil speaks, he says that you do not need Scripture or a Scriptural principle to justify your actions, you may just do it. I’ve realized that while the Holy Spirit leads us, Satan forces. Where the Holy Spirit inspires, Satan intimidates. The Holy Spirit motivates through His word, but Satan dominates. The devil works in haste and does not allow us think something over, or to discuss it to make sure that it is right, or to run it by other people. God always wants us to confirm because out of the mouth of several people led by the Spirit, we will get the confirmation we need. Out of the mouth of two or three witnesses shall every matter be established.(2 Cor.13:1). Surely, God can confirm His word by a multiplicity of signs, just watch out for them.

Let us learn to WAIT…God is never in a hurry.

God bless you and have a nice week.
