A tree is best measured when it’s down

Touch your neighbour and say “Get READY!” tap him or her again and say “get ready!!” … those were the words of Pastor Kunat that scared the daylight out of many of us during the church service for Late Engineer Tunbi. The entire congregation sat-up, as they each ran assessment test and analysis on their current way of life. “At the end of days (when time is up), some people may get a death notice, while some will never have the opportunity. So, put your house in order!” He said…

Are you afraid yet? Haha! I’ve got you where I want you….lol

For young men like us, we may think… “I’m still young, what do I care? I don’t even have a house to put in order…” Brethren, do not take the word ‘House’ literarily. There is more to it. It’s not just about writing a WILL or jumping to the alter to repent, it’s more of amending your ways and fulfilling purpose...NOW!

After hearing a few of the testimonies concerning Mr. Tunbi (late), I looked at his corpse again and said to myself; “this man has fought a good fight, paid his dues and finished his race. He has just gone to wear his crown”. Right behind the row I sat, I overheard someone whispering: “if I die like this man, I have died well…” Thanks to New Estate too, who made the funeral service an enviable one.

While we were still seated, I, in my own imagination, placed my self in his beautiful casket and my spirit mind took a good look at the faces in the crowd, listened to the testimonies about me, read my own biography page and most of all, asked my self what next? Heaven or hell? Crown or thorns? Joy or sorrow? I leave my observations to myself.

I have learnt that in life, everyone has a ministry, whether you like it or not. As long as your passion for the ministry continues to burn, you will express it in many ways. Worse still, so many of us do not realize the ministry in our life time. People around you might not find the ease to tell you what they see in you, rumour may carry it around and sometimes garnish it with a few lies here and there, or even change the entire story about you for the opposite. But on the day you will take the 'long sleep', your ministry on earth will be exposed to the world. Then, a standard tape will be used to measure your achievements. You can’t defend it at this time. But this is just stage one. The next stage is; Judgment day, when you will be given the opportunity to account for your ministry and defend it. It’s like a final yr project. Then stage three, you receive your reward.

Should I congratulate you in advance or wait a little bit…?

Bottom line; Giving is a Ministry, and it’s my ministry too… what’s your ministry?
